Simplify data
migration projects
Ensure your end users have access to historical data, affordably.
Remove the complexity.
Preserving historical data to move it to a new system is usually the most complex and expensive parts of data migration projects. Data is related, often dependent, and there are plenty of considerations: older items you no longer sell, salespeople or users that no longer work at your company, but are connected to data, how much you want to invest and how much historical data makes sense to move.
Many CRM and ERP consultants will say don’t move the data (or only move as little as possible, like master records). Yet, every company needs some level of access to their old data when they’re starting in a new system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most customers like seeing legacy data in the app where they work. Any data can be embedded using Popdock widgets in your app. This is nice, because it's a live look into relevant data, and you can turn on options for your users to work with the data (filter, search, add/remove, columns, export, create new favorites, etc.).
Additionally, you can also access legacy data from within the Popdock web app or via the Popdock add-in for Microsoft Excel.
Virtual migration refers to displaying legacy data in your new app, being able to work with the data and take action, all without ever creating the legacy data in your new system. Customers minimize their cloud storage costs, and are able to work with all the data they need access to.
This is a very common scenario when we're discussing how to handle historical data. Popdock includes options to handle larger volumes of data when you're working with data lakes.
Data lakes, first of all, are a great place to move the data to, primarily because they are cost-effective and Popdock makes it easy and efficient to work with data lake cloud storage.
For larger data sets, we recommend using the option to chunk your source data when you're using Popdock to copy and archive it to the data lake. This allows Popdock to multi-thread on the copy to the data lake, which makes it a faster process to get your data into the data lake. After the data is in the data lake, you can use the Popdock data lake connectors to access and work with the data. For larger queries, we recommend using the "split files" option. This is helpful to optimize how fast the data is pulled and presented to you in Popdock.
Popdock widgets can be embedded as a Visualforce page (as an iFrame) in Salesforce. The most common scenarios are embedding external data with parameters on specific records and to embed Popdock within dashboards.
